The Dirty Truth About Antibacterial Soap

November 22nd, 2011 by admin

There are more than 700 products that are used in homes to kill bacteria. Originally formulated for use in hospitals, they are now used in many homes. Sadly, antibacterial soap use in households has the potential to actually damage our bodies’ natural bacterial resistance. So, think about these facts before you buy products that promise to kill all bacteria. Some of them will definitely surprise you!

• More and more dangerous bacteria have developed antibiotic resistance, causing what the Centers for Disease Control call a global health crisis. This may be a result of the increase in antibacterial products that have recently entered homes.

• Antibacterial products were designed to protect those with weakened immune systems from disease-causing bacteria and are thus not meant for use in healthy homes.

• Bacteria are an extremely fast reproducer and therefore a very fast evolver. Should a mutation produce a strain of bacteria that is resistant to any of the chemicals used to kill bacteria, its spread can be fast and devastating.

• Triclosan, the main chemical used in antibacterial products, is actually less effective when combined with soaps-to work, it requires much longer time than the typical 5-second hand wash that most people practice. Try singing the “Happy Birthday” song twice in a row while you wash your hands-taking a little longer will make your washing infinitely more effective.

• Increased use of Triclosan naturally selects bacteria that is also antibiotic resistant. Basically, Triclosan will kill all but the most dangerous bacteria, leaving them alone to monopolize resources and take over in general.

• There is no data that show using antibacterial cleansers in your home is beneficial to health. In their campaign to promote effective hand washing, the Mayo Clinic reminds us that there is no sign that washing your hands with antibacterial cleansers kills any more germs than regular soap.

• More and more studies show that there is a correlation between use of antibacterial cleansers in homes and childhood allergies. More infections in early childhood may actually be linked to decreased incidence of allergic reactions. Studies have revealed increased levels of asthma, eczema and allergies in homes overly protective against microorganisms. Like a brain, it is suggested that you allow your immune system to “learn” how to respond to disease-causing bacteria. The body needs to be stimulated to promote the proper balance between immune system T-cells that produce antibodies and create cellular immunity.

So, when you are selecting home cleaning products for you or your cleaning service to use, consider just plain soap or natural cleansers. You can even make your own! Regardless of what you choose, avoiding antibacterials is a no brainer. There is no real benefit to using them over other products, and they will only contribute to greater health issues in the long term. Don’t let the antibacterial soap manufacturers convince you to continue using their product-listen to real sources of information, like the CDC ( www.CDC.gov ) that tell you to avoid them. It’s a definite win/win situation. For more information on home cleaning and sanitation tips, feel free to visit our Denver cleaning services website and click through to our blog.

My Personal Back Pain Story – How Stretching Helped an Acupuncturist With Pain

November 20th, 2011 by admin

I over did it. Since I love cycle class I thought doing more classes would be a great way to get in my cardio, but I over did it and now like many of my patients I have lower back pain. It is really muscle strain and with a lot of treatment I can get back in the saddle as my instructor calls it. Why would an acupuncturist be so open about the fact we too can have problems and need our own Denver Acupuncture back pain care because it’s a fact of life that we all are very human.

The biggest thing I learned from this is how easy it is to hurt yourself and why patients can come back in the next month saying my back pain has returned. All I did was do the cycling class two days in a row. It would be better if I had put a day in-between and that is what I will do when I can get back to the gym. Until then I am taking my own advice that I would give any acupuncture back pain client, in this case I am the patient.

Instead of using ice since I get stiff on sitting to long I am using a heated grain or rice bag. Most health care professionals would suggest ice for the first 48 hours to reduce swelling. When I see stiffness from sitting to long heat is the way to go to loosen up the muscles. If there is swelling rotate it with ice for that first phase and then do just the heat is what I have found works for me.

Because low back pain like mine usually involves the abdomen muscles you may feel a little tender in the front on your hip-bone. This means a muscle like the Psoas is involved and using the heat on the Psoas where it attaches on the front of the body can really help you make it through your work day. Of course movement is vital. Get up every 30 minutes and walk to get a water refill since drinking water also is very important. Our body needs the movement and the water will help flush the uric acid from our system.

Besides water, heat and movement there are a few foods that really complicate things like meat protein. As a meat lover leaving this form of protein out of my diet would be impossible. This is where the right herbs come into play along with reducing meat protein and adding other forms of protein. What are some sources that do not create uric acid in the muscle tissue? Soy protein or nut protein is wonderful for this along with beans and other grains or even eggs.

The herbs and nutrients that I found help include a proprietary blend of enzymes coupled with Curcuma Longa, Boswellia Serrata, Zingiber Offcinale, Quercetin, Rutin, Rosemary, Polygonum Cuspidatum, and few other natural herbs of Chinese origin. Having the right amount in a professional grade formula that you take between meals can boost recovery to a day or two.

Did I do acupuncture for my pain? You bet I did once a day and I used my Ultimate Denver Acupuncture back pain treatment. The idea of being in pain and not able to help my patients did not sit well with me but sharing that I too can suffer back pain hopefully let’s you know I feel your pain, sometimes literally.

Why A Healthy Diet Should Include Organic

November 15th, 2011 by admin

There are many reasons people choose not to buy organic foods. The main reason is because the prices are too high. Also, they don’t really think non-organic foods could harm their health. And then a lot of people simply don’t understand what organic means and why they should think it’s important.

Organic foods are important and there are many reasons why more people should buy them. They are much more nutritious and less harmful than non-organic foods. Food agencies may say differently, but with the right knowledge and common sense you’ll see why a truly healthy diet should consist of organic foods.

A diet full of non-organic, pesticide-enriched foods is harmful to the health in the long run. Dr. A. Hoffer, MD, Ph.D. has made some startling discoveries with research. He found that while eating a poor diet, the offspring of each generation deteriorates more and more. The foods he’s mainly referring to are white flour, white sugar, and chemically sprayed foods versus a natural and organic healthy diet.

In 1993, the Journal of Applied Nutrition found that organic produce had twice the nutritional element content of regular supermarket produce. With the rise in health care costs and the increase in diseases like diabetes and cancer, it’s a good idea to look closer at the vital role nutrition plays in our lives.

The cost of organic foods is a reasonable concern, but would you rather spend money on foods that will keep you healthy or pay for chemotherapy and radiation? And what about the things in life that are priceless? We would all agree that a long, healthy, happy life is preferred over a future of pain and illness.

It’s obvious that the best nourishment and health comes from more nutritious organic food. Those foods grown in depleted soils and covered in chemicals will harm the body and lead to diseases in the future.

The way to a healthy life is by acquiring more certified organic produce. In addition, consider buying an organic whole food vitamin with all the trace minerals that have been depleted from our soil. Low levels of these healthy elements can cause conditions such as coronary heart disease and stroke, according to a 1988 Surgeon General’s report. This report said many studies show that supplementation of these elements can reduce symptoms.

Treat your body well and feed it a healthy diet rich in organic foods. Many people can’t afford a completely organic diet, so if you can only afford a few items start with dairy products, eggs and meats. Then add as many organic fruits and vegetables as possible.

Understanding the Two Schools of Thought in Chiropractic Practices

November 13th, 2011 by admin

I’ve heard a lot of comments about chiropractors and how they’re a waste of time and money. I used to feel the same way. Who needs someone they see only when something goes wrong? An “expert” to crack your back and send you on your way convinced they should take credit for your recovery?

Well, not all of Denver’s chiropractors follow the same kind of treatment philosophy. While some practitioners prefer to offer a chiropractic band-aid to patients suffering from pain or recovering from an accident, not all chiropractors feel the same way.

While my first experience in the Denver chiropractic world may not have been ideal, I found a practitioner that focused on what’s known as life chiropractic. Instead of trying to provide a temporary solution, my doctor spent a very long introductory session analyzing my spine, how my weight is distributed, and taking x-rays.

From there, my doctor developed a treatment plan to share with me. He recommended more intense, frequent appointments in the beginning of my treatment. The muscles surrounding the spine have a long muscle memory. Even if you adjust the bones in your spine, the wayward muscles will push them back out of alignment and your symptoms will soon return,

By combining routine spinal adjustments with exercises to re-train your muscles, you can successfully correct spinal problems and experience relief from related symptoms. Over time you should start to feel better as your spinal condition improves and then you can expect to back off how often you need adjustments throughout the week.

I’ve seen a difference in my symptoms by working with a chiropractor that takes a more holistic and compassionate view to my treatment instead of providing sporadic adjustments that never provide the relief I see. When it comes to alleviating pain, isn’t anything worth a try?

Speech-Language Pathologist – How to Find One and Make a Good Match

November 9th, 2011 by admin

There are many ways to find a speech-language pathologist (SLP). After you locate one or more, you may want to ask her or him some questions to make a good match to meet your needs and your child’s needs.

Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) have completed professional training in speech-language pathology from accredited universities and hold a Masters degree at a minimum. Most SLPs who provide clinical practice have a Masters degree as their highest degree. Most SLPs who have earned a doctorate (Ph. D.) are college or university professors who train students and/or conduct research.

SLPs practice in public schools, including in some charter schools or private schools, in clinics, in hospitals, and in private practices. Some SLPs provide services in their patients’ homes.

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is the professional association for SLPs and also for audiologists. Audiologists have another professional association, the American Academy of Audiology (AAA). ASHA is the organization that certifies speech-language pathologists and audiologists for practice. Certification is achieved when an individual receives a masters degree, completes a paid Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) under supervision, passes a national board exam, and pays necessary fees. Continuous annual membership in ASHA is mandatory for maintenance of certification. ASHA is an excellent source of information for consumers on a variety of topics related to speech, language, swallowing, and hearing, and it maintains a referral service to consumers seeking service for speech, language, and/or hearing issues. Contact ASHA at asha.org/public/ (See: Find a Professional); or seek information on topics at 800-638-8255 or by sending an e-mail to: actioncenter@asha.org.

Every state also has a state association with the name [State] Speech-Language-Hearing Association, for example, the Colorado Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Look online or check in your business white pages of your telephone directory. All or most state associations provide referral services to certified professionals. Membership in the state associations is optional for clinicians.

If your child has been diagnosed with a specific condition, consider contacting the national, state, or local organization that supports that condition. You may receive support, information, and referrals which will be quite helpful to you. There may be service agencies in your area with professionals who specialize in care to children who have your child’s diagnosis. One example is for autism.

Check your local telephone book’s yellow pages under Speech and Hearing or Speech Pathology.

Take Responsibility and LOA Shows Up

November 1st, 2011 by admin

Clearly the Law of Attraction has been in full swing throughout my entire life – throughout all of our lives. But my consciously becoming aware of it began one day in the ’70s, when I had what was for me, at the time, a revolutionary thought. I was four years into a bout with cancer. I’d had six surgeries and was beginning a chemotherapy regimen that ended up lasting for three years. I was a working singer/actor, and was tap dancing as fast as I could to keep my illness quiet so I’d still get hired in theatre. Neither my doctors nor the few people I’d taken into my confidence could explain why this was happening. I took better care of myself than anyone they knew, so why was I in the hospital every 20 minutes? My medical team was terrific, and they were doing all they could to restore my health, but I began to feel that it wasn’t enough. I knew that something inside of me had to shift. And then out of the blue came this insight: I must take full responsibility for my own well-being. Unbeknownst to me, this was one of the axioms of the then-emerging human potential movement, and the energy was in the air. From that moment on I was fully committed to being responsible for my own wellness.

This famous Goethe quote always rings so true: “Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”

I began! And what we now refer to as the Law of Attraction became a palpable presence in my life. I opened up and the Universe moved in. I was guided to books and seminars and health care professionals. Modalities that I hadn’t even known existed were thrown across my life path. I got rolfed, rebirthed, acupunctured, acupressured, shiatsued. It was so exciting and I was so grateful. Ultimately I was led to a spiritual teacher and healer, Hilda Charlton, and after receiving her teachings and healing energy for a year, I removed myself from chemotherapy. I just knew I didn’t need the drug anymore, and with my doctors fainting all around, I promised to come more frequently for check-ups. I did, and thankfully my intuition was correct; I’ve been fine ever since. (Please know that I never recommend that cancer patients do this.)

For 12 years I studied with Hilda. I knew that her wisdom and the blessings from her magnificent spirit had helped save my life, and I wanted to learn all I could from her. Her teachings were based in ancient metaphysical/spiritual traditions. It’s the same quantum mechanics material now being espoused by our scientific community and many of our doctors. It’s all about the Law of Attraction. To summarize Hilda’s teachings very succinctly, here are three points that were life changing/saving for me:

1. The universe, and everything in it (including every cell of our bodies), is made up of whirling atoms of energy or subatomic particles. (Regarding our bodies, Deepak Chopra says it this way, “Our bodies are rivers of energy.”)

2. Thoughts are “things”. They are constantly impacting our bodies, either uplifting them or disempowering them. “You are what you think about all day long.” Emerson

3. Disease is literally that “dis-ease”, a lack of ease and harmony in the body/mind system.

My life was never the same again. Though I loved being in theatre, my passion for the healing arts took over. I longed to share all this wondrous material that had healed and touched me so and found myself dancing into what continues to be the most creative period of my life. I began presenting what we called Healing Concerts, in which I sang everything from Puccini to John Denver, punctuating the songs with inspiring information. And when the market would bear it, I’d lead a meditation. As I wanted to thank all my doctors and the people who had assisted in saving my life, we produced a recording of songs entitled Gratitude. It went onto the market, as did Beautiful Dreamer Awake, music and meditation to help people relax into delicious sleep at night, and to invigorate their awakening process each morning. This project was particularly auspicious for me in that I wrote the “wake-up” song. Amazing! It had never occurred to me that I could do anything but interpret someone else’s words and music, and suddenly ideas were coming to me straight out of the air. I was thrilled.

The Law of Attraction kept expanding in my every day experience. Taking responsibility for my own well-being had not only been the catalyst for my healing, it had opened wide a path of creativity that stretches before me as far as my mind can think and heart can feel. It’s true that in the past 10 years there have been many difficult and painful times. My beloved mother passed away, as did my beautiful Collie dog, and my husband and I endured a lengthy separation. We’re now happily re-united and surprisingly grateful for that estranged time. Everything happens for a reason!) However, through it all, the training I received from Hilda sustained me. My working knowledge of LOA and the profound connection to spirit that had been born and honed in me at that time relentlessly supported my well-being.

Of course, I’ve needed to take responsibility for the fact that the Law of Attraction was very much in play before my epiphany in the ’70′s. It was then frequently fueling a negative side of me. Though there are myriad reasons why we host serious disease, one of the huge contributing factors to my illness was not loving and respecting myself enough (though I ate right and got enough sleep, etc.). I was always an intelligent and gifted person, but I beat myself up all the time. Nothing I did was ever good enough. My MO was trying too hard to be what others thought I was or what they wanted me to be. Therefore, though it was usually couched in humor, there was a lot of self-denial and self-denigration. This lack of harmony within myself led to stuffing much sadness and frustration into this body. It’s clear to me that these negative thoughts, and the feelings they engendered, helped set the stage for my illness. I attracted it. However, in retrospect, this most arduous time in my life was a blessing in disguise, a life chapter that taught me so much and opened me to wonders I probably would never have known. I think of it as an initiation, a rite of passage. I feel all our crises are just that. Everything is grist for the mill, part of the journey – in many instances, a journey of remarkable creative gifts.

Shortly after leaving my husband, I was walking in Central Park and these thoughts flooded my consciousness: sing these two sacred songs, put a meditation in between them, here’s the cover art and you can produce this yourself (my husband had always produced my products). It was that clear. Within 24 hours I had contacted my friend Jeff Olmsted, a terrific musician who has a sound studio in my neighborhood, and we began working on the project. The fee for his services was the exact amount I’d just received for selling my Aunt Mary’s bequeathed china. Hmmm. Talk about LOA. The project is called Come Home To Your Heart and, like all my other recordings, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Creative inspiration is deliciously uplifting and humbling at the same time. It is so precious.

Over ten years ago I wrote on my projects-to-be-done list: Pre and Post Surgery Videos for Patients and their Caregivers. In 2004 Eric Brown, a retired lawyer, came into my life, loved the idea, most generously produced it and the Better & Better Series was born. It’s so clear that the Universe wanted this project done and brought everything together at the perfect time to accomplish it. Hilda always reminded us that “God has perfect timing”. The How is always up to the Universe – the What is up to us.

And now The Secret emerges. At this most critical/perfect time on our planet the Law of Attraction is introduced to the masses. What better timing than now to awaken people to their responsibility for the health and well-being of their own lives and for that of our beautiful Earth. My gratitude to all who participated in the making of this life-transforming video and book. My gratitude to Esther and Jerry Hicks and Abraham who have been teaching LOA for years. My gratitude to my beloved teacher, Hilda, and all the spiritual teachers who have been imparting these universal principles for millennia. My gratitude to Oprah for ensuring that millions all over our planet received this most significant and very urgent information. May it seep so profoundly into the mass consciousness that we and our world become steeped in gratitude, integrity and compassionate caring that, true to the Law of Attraction, keeps creating more and more of the same. Thank you. Thank you. Gratitude reigns.

Conquering The Medicaid Application: Part 3: Assessment And Deadlines

October 30th, 2011 by admin

ULTC 100.2 -The Functional Assessment for Colorado Medicaid Eligibility

In addition to meeting asset and income eligibility criteria, a Medicaid applicant must also be medically eligible, In other words, he or she must be sick enough to require a certain level of care.

This criteria is determined by a functional assessment performed when an application is submitted. The functional assessment form is the ULTC 100.2. The counties contract out this assessment to other agencies for review.

When an application is filed, the county is required to make a referral requesting the assessment. The contractor then has 10 days to complete the functional assessment. For unknown reasons, this referral is not taking place in a timely fashion as it should. In some cases, the referral is not being made for several weeks or more.

The problem is that Medicaid benefits are not being backdated beyond the date of the functional assessment which launches other issues. It is creating a situation where benefits are significantly delayed and an applicant is responsible for the private pay cost of care during this time period which is not right. Although this is in violation of Colorado regulations and State and federal law, the applicants simply do not have the funds to enforce compliance. Therefore, it is recommended that you waste not time and make the referral yourself as soon as an application is filed.

Long Term Care Options performs the functional assessment for Denver, Adams, and Arapahoe Counties. Each county has a separate telephone number as follows:

Denver County – (720) 974-2397
Adams County – (303) 227-2288
Arapahoe County – (720) 974-2379

Jefferson County has its own contractor which is Jefferson County Government Options for Long Term Care. They can be reached at (303) 271-4216. You can call the local county departments for contractor information for Colorado counties outside the Denver metro area.

For applicants residing in a nursing home, the facility routinely handles the assessment. It is recommended that notice be provided to the facility in writing in order to prevent any delay in obtaining this assessment.

The Processing Timetable: Deadlines, The Application Processing Time Table Table and Processing Overview

Once Part 1 of an application for Medicaid is complete and filed, the county will assign a technician to begin reviewing the application. That technician is responsible for obtaining the proper verification and rendering a decision on the application.

Part 2 of the application and supporting documentation should be submitted as soon as possible thereafter. The technicians frequently will request a personal interview to review the application and to request any additional documentation needed.

If an interview is not requested, the technician will usually send a written request for additional documentation. It is standard for the additional documentation to be requested within 10 days. Extensions are routinely granted upon request.

If the documentation is not provided, the county can deny the application based on failure to cooperate; you don’t want that happening, so be as cooperative as you can. Medicaid regulations require the counties to process an application within 45 days. Once a decision is rendered, a written notice must be issued.

The Basics Of Qualifying For Colorado Medicaid – What You Can And Cannot Keep

October 26th, 2011 by admin

In order to understand the process of Medicaid qualification in Colorado, you first need to know how Medicaid treats your assets.

Basically, Medicaid breaks your assets down into two separate categories. The first are those assets which are “exempt” and the second are those assets which are “non-exempt” or countable.

Exempt assets are those which Medicaid will not take into account (at least for the time being). Generally the following assets are exempt:

The home, up to $500,000 in equity. The home must be the principal place of residence. The nursing home resident may be required to show some “intent to return home,” even if this never actually takes place. Household and personal belongings, such as furniture, appliances, jewelry and clothing. One vehicle of any value. Prepaid funeral plans and burial plots. Cash value of life insurance policies, as long as the face value of all policies added together does not exceed $1,500. If it does exceed $1,500 in total face amount, then the cash value in these policies is countable. Also, term life insurance is exempt. Cash (e.g. a small checking or savings account) not to exceed$2,000.

These are basically the assets which Medicaid will ignore, at least for now. Keep in mind, however, that the estate recovery unit may come back to recoup payments made to a Medicaid recipient after the death of the recipient and the recipient’s spouse. All other assets which are not exempt (i.e. the ones not listed earlier) are countable. This includes checking accounts, savings accounts, certificates of deposit, money market accounts, stocks, mutual funds, bonds, IRAs, pensions, second cars and so on. While there are some minor exceptions to these rules, for the most part, all money and property, as well as any item that can be valued and turned into cash, is a countable asset, unless it is one of those listed earlier as exempt.

While the Medicaid rules themselves are complicated and somewhat tricky, for a single person it’s safe to say that you will qualify for Medicaid so long as you have only exempt assets plus a small amount of cash.

For a married couple, the community spouse (i.e., the one not needing nursing home care) can generally keep $104,400. Of course, this does not mean there are not things which can be done to protect assets beyond these levels. Instead, this information is designed to review the basics in a way which a caseworker from Medicaid would do so.

Alkaline Body Balance Health Resources – Start Here and End Here

October 24th, 2011 by admin

With a balanced inner body, you will have a healthier and leaner outer body. You will give yourself the chance to lose weight and you will gain energy to do your daily tasks without any slow downs.

As mentioned in a previous article, the importance of alkaline body balancing is paramount to fend of most common ailments, disorders and diseases. Arguably the most important of which is Cancer, which has the perfect spreading ground in an body balance with an acidic pH level, commonly known as acidosis.

Check this out: A medical scientist, Otto Warburg, two time winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine commented;
“There is no disease whose prime cause is better known, so that today ignorance is no longer an excuse that one cannot do more about prevention of cancer.” What did he say? Is he saying that the average person should know damn well by now that in an alkaline balanced body there is NO CHANCE of CANCER GROWTH? Wow if it’s that simple, what do we need to do to prevent cancer?

In his discoveries of the early 60′s, he was lead to the fact that the number one mineral nutrient in our bodies, Calcium, and the abundance of it in the blood stream, was a major contributor to the proper alkalinity of the body’s fluids. Calcium’s presence in the blood stream is paramount based on the fact that the Mineral Calcium is needed to properly Oxidize the blood and operate the nutrient channel through which the cells’ nutrients enter and exit. Conversely, it’s lack thereof was evidenced by the low pH balance into the acidic zone, giving way to carcinogens and toxins for entry into a ruptured cell.

Without getting too technical, understand this; we humans require lots of oxygen for numerous biological functions: therefore, alkaline fluids are more conducive to biological functions than acidic fluids which don’t have the ability to absorb gasses, like oxygen. The cell membrane is composed of a bi-layer of phospholipids which could be compared to an air mattress composed of two layers of balloons with the upper and lower layers bound together by string. The phospholipid layers are largely comprised of cholesterol. The surface of the phospholipid balloons contains significant oxygen which makes it hydrophilic, or in other words water and fluids are attracted to it. The surface of each cell is negatively charged and thereby allows the hydrophilic surface to capture either cancer causing chemicals, most of which are made up of derivatives of the electron starved, therefore positively charged, benzene, or (good scenario) positively charged minerals; calcium and magnesium.

The calcium will then attract negatively charged nutrients in preparation for entry into the cell. The nutrient channel, mentioned above, is kept closed by a rosette of coiled proteins, like a coiled snake plugging a hole, bound together by Calcium. When negatively charged nutrients enter the cell, the pH inside the cell drops as the nutrients are consumed in biochemical reactions. This in turn causes an electrical potential difference; an electrical voltage. When the charge becomes large enough, it causes the negatively charged end of the rosette snake coil to stretch towards the positively charged external fluids, thereby opening the cell and allowing the higher pH nutrients to flow through the nutrient channel into the cell. These high pH fluids entering the cell in turn raise the pH inside the cell, thereby lowering the electrical charge, allowing the rosette snake to recoil and plug the channel. Thus the cell has been opened and closed electrically.

Ok, now picture this: An acidic environment results in cell surface disintegration, right? If, on the other hand, the fluids inside the cell are at the more alkaline pH of 6.5 or higher, this will allow the four nucleotides which are the basic building blocks of DNA, to be formed. Thus in an acidic environment the DNA cannot be formed. This is probably the main reason why acidosis results in degenerative diseases, and why raising the body fluid’s pH can result in curing the disease.

Breast Augmentation – Your First Meeting With The Doctor

October 22nd, 2011 by admin

Breast augmentation is a procedure that can come with many benefits and rewards. However it also comes with its share of risks and potential complications. That is why you need to be well informed before you decide to go ahead and have the plastic surgery procedure.

Once you have decided that you want to have implants placed into your chest to improve the appearance of your breasts, you must meet with the doctor. A consultation before having breast augmentation is an absolute must. It is natural to be curious about what to expect when you first sit down and talk with the cosmetic surgeon. There are certain items that will typically be discussed at a first meeting.

The surgeon will want to know what breast size you are interested in having. If you wish to bring anything else related to the look of your chest to the attention of the physician then this is the time to do it. Don’t be shy. The surgeon will want you to be as precise as possible in explaining how you wish your breasts to look. Tell him what you would like to improve. From this he can accurately assess your expectations to determine if they are realistic and in line with what the outcome of the surgery will be.

During the first meeting the surgeon will examine your breasts carefully. He is likely to take some photos of your chest at this time. These photos will be entered into the medical record he will start for you. As soon as you book a consultation a file is opened for you at the plastic surgeon’s office.

It is imperative that the surgeon finds out about your medical background as well as about the current state of your health and your lifestyle habits. It is his job as a surgeon to make sure that it is safe for you to have the breast augmentation procedure. If he does not then he is being negligent in his duties.

When you sit down in the surgeon’s office you should be prepared to disclose and discuss your medical history and anything medically related that could have an impact on your breast implant operation. Any medical conditions you suffered from in the past or that are ongoing make a difference. The same can be said for any surgeries you had in the past. Do not discount the importance of anything. All surgeries should be mentioned, regardless of how big or small they were.

If you have any drug allergies that you aware of then tell the surgeon so he can make note of it in your file. You should also tell him about any medications you are on. This includes prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs and any nutritional supplements.

He will need to know if there is a history of breast cancer in your family. He will also need to know if you have ever had a mammogram and what the results were. Be as honest as possible.

From there the doctor will explain the breast augmentation procedure to you and will discuss the options you have in terms of the types of implants and the location for the incisions. Pay close attention to what the doctor is saying and ask questions where applicable.
