12 Tips on Surviving a Job Loss

October 31st, 2011 by admin

Corporate America can be harsh. Regardless of your job title: Mailroom Clerk or Executive Director, there is no promise or security in the job markets. Millions of people have found that out the hard way. Don’t assume just because you are loyal, or that you’ve been with your company for several years, that it can’t happen to you.

If you’ve lost your job, first off, take a deep breath and access what’s just happened. This could turn out to be an opportunity to land a better job or a new career. Don’t make any hasty financial or emotional decisions that could cause you to regret later. Far too many people ‘do now’ and ‘think later.’ So how can you financially survive a job loss? The following are 12 tips to make it through a rough period of time for you and your family.

1. Start Looking for Work Immediately

Don’t assume you’ll find a job and decide not to look for a job right away while taking a mini at-home vacation. Tap into your resources. Search for job leads. Ask around – friends, neighbors, the mail man, the UPS truck delivery man, the grocery bag clerk, whoever. Usually, somebody that knows somebody else can provide you with some kind of lead. Spend a whole day and do nothing but sign up for employment at temporary agencies. Or spend a whole day on career sites like: Monster, HotJobs.yahoo, CareerBuilder, or ServiceLocator. You can also type in the word ‘Jobs’ in the search engine of Google and you’ll find several online job resources. Phone, Email, and fax your resume to those jobs you think you qualify for.

2. File for Unemployment Benefits

If you were fired or laid off, you likely qualify for unemployment benefits. Contact the US Department of Labor: ows.doleta.gov/unemploy/. File a claim for unemployment insurance benefits under the state you live in. In some states, you can look forward to receiving a check in a few weeks, but it may take longer.

3. Weigh Your Health care Options

As far as health care is concerned, most companies will still offer healthcare 30 days after termination. After this period of time, you may be eligible for COBRA, which is a federal program that may allow you to continue group-plan coverage for up to 18 months and in some situations as long as 36 months. However, this indeed will be at a higher cost to you, then you were paying, but it is still an option if you would like to keep your health insurance. If you are 65 years or older you are automatically eligible for Medicare.

Click here for more information: medicare.gov. You may qualify for Medicaid. Contact your local state office or locate your state by clicking here: cms.gov/medicaideligibility

For more healthcare options, visit Health Care.gov to get updated information on other health care and pricing options for you or your family.

4. Reassess Your Career

Do you really want to continue to work in the field you were currently working in? Are you qualified to work in a different field? Do you have skills that would be better equipped in a different job? Could you afford to go back to school to pick up a new trade? Many schools offer job placements while going back to school. There are also financial assistant available for people who do go back to school.

5. Start Your Own Business

At age 50, Jane Adams had a high-paying job with a Fortune 500 company. She was employed for 19 years. She was devastated when she lost her job due to corporate downsizing. She ended up starting her own flower shop. It had always been her hobby and she turned it into a business that is very profitable. She’s excited when she tells people that she makes more now then she ever did at as an Executive Director. Because the job market is not secure, many launch out and start there own businesses. There are many tax benefits, it’s flexible and you are your own boss.

What skills, hobbies, education, something you’re good at or experience do you have that you could start up a business with? There are thousands of Start your own business opportunities on the web, but be leery, because some are scams or just a waste of money.

Search Amazon and type home business in there search engine. Or visit the public library and search the many books on starting your own home business. The 200 Best Home Businesses: Easy To Start, Fun To Run, Highly Profitable by Katina Z. Jones, and The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Starting a Home-Based Business (2nd Edition) by Barbara Weltman are among some good books to start with.

6. Dip Into Your Retirement Fund, 401(k) or Insurance Policy (This is definitely a last resort.)

A cash value life insurance policy is an excellent source of liquidity, if you’ve build up enough cash in the policy. On the other hand, you could take from your retirement plan or 401(k).

However, be aware of restrictions, penalties fees and income taxes that will need to be paid on the withdrawal amount at the end of the year. This should be done only if you really need the money. Typically, you can cash out, roll the money over to your new employer, or roll the money to an (IRA) individual retirement account. Check out your options with your last employer or the investment company your retirement plan is with.

7. Consider Government Assistance or Private Assistance

Local food drives are in every community. The Emergency Food Assistance Program, better known as ‘Food Stamps’, Housing Vouchers, Cash assistance are all aid from the government. Any of these programs can be explained and applied for at your local county building.

The following is an excellent site for information on various government assistance program located in each state: govbenefits.gov. Click on ‘locate benefits by state’.

8. Spend Wisely, Consolidate Debts, Work with a Credit Counseling Service and Defer Payments

Many receive a severance package when laid off. Prioritize and spend that money very wisely. Depending on the type of bill, you could be eligible for a deferment or extension of a month or two. If you don’t ask, you won’t know what is available to you. Are there some bills you can do without temporarily?

For example: Your cable; lawn service; doggy daycare; high speed internet; cut out eating out all together, etc. Could you tap into the equity in your home, or refinance to pay off credit card debts, a car payment or other bills? Mortgage companies may offer an option to defer your mortgage payments, but be assured that you will be charged fees. To minimize debt burden you could also contact a credit counseling service.

9. Contact a Financial Planner

Certified Financial Planners will usually collect a client’s data (check stubs, checking & credit statements, titles for homes, tax returns, insurance policies, etc.), prioritize your financial goals, examine resources, make recommendations and implement a financial plan according to your needs. To find qualified financial planners in you area, call Financial Planning Association at 1-800-322-4237 or search online at: plannersearch.org

10. Have a Garage Sale

Need some extra money while looking for a job? This one may sound strange, but after you think about it, it just may be an excellent idea. Everyone has junk or stuff they would like to give away, pawn or get rid of. Go through your closet, garage, whatever. You don’t have anything to sale? Well, what about placing a small ad in the newspaper or post a flyer in your community/neighborhood asking anyone if they have any stuff or junk they would like to get rid of? If so, drive and pick it up for free. Place there stuff or junk in your garage sale and make some extra money.

11. Think Creatively

Don’t focus on the fact that you don’t have a job. Focus on looking for a job or on ways to make some extra money until you can find a job. Could you shovel someone’s snow for them? Could you mow someone’s lawn? Could you babysit a neighbor’s child? Could you run some errands for someone? Could you take on a seasonal part-time job?

If you are renting, could you temporarily move in with a family or friend until you get back on your feet? Could you have someone move in with you? Don’t neglect your local community newspaper. Many people place odd or temporary jobs in those papers. Could your spouse or partner take on more hours at his or her job? Could your teenager or another adult in your family perhaps help out financially? This outside the box and stay focused on finding a job.

12. Stay Positive

So what does this have to do with surviving a job loss? A lot. Staying positive will help you maintain persistence, faith, and staying on the grind. Stressing out is not going to find you a job, but appearing positive definitely looks good in a job interview. Read positive books, listen to positive audio CD’s. Stay optimistic. Picture yourself in your mind finding the job you want. This may sound like a waste of time, but it helps tremendously.

You may get a job over someone else, simply because the hiring manager thought you appeared more uplifting and positive then the last women or man he interviewed.

In summary, a job loss is serious business, and the stress from it could see overwhelming and frustrating. This is especially true if you have mouths to feed. Don’t give up. You can survive a job loss financially. There is a job out there for you or at least another source of income. Be wise, think clearly, and take advantage of all your resources.

How Swift Can An Unemployed American Find A Job?

October 30th, 2011 by admin

After a ten month investigation, federal officials raided six meatpacking plants that were hiring illegal immigrants, some with stolen identities of U.S. citizens.

The raids at the plants operated by Swift & Company, resulted in the apprehension of almost 1,300 illegal immigrants. The Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) raid netted 1,217 persons that were being detained on immigration charges and another 65 on identity theft charges. Some of these persons were wanted on outstanding existing criminal warrants for crimes previously committed. Most of the identity theft involved the use of legitimate Social Security numbers assigned to U.S. citizens. The arrested workers were from, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Peru, Laos, Sudan, Ethiopia and other countries according to ICE.

Swift & Co. was not charged. Why not, you ask? They claimed that they had no idea that they had employees on the payroll using the same Social Security numbers as an American worker in other cities. The company had participated in a government program known as “Basic Pilot” since 1997 to ascertain through a federal database the legitimacy of the SS numbers that were presented by the prospective employee. That is probably why officials of Swift & Co. were not charged. However, the database only tells the inquirer that the numbers are legitimate. It does not tell them that the applicant is presently working in another city.

When I was in business, I was required, as every employer is, to file quarterly 941 tax forms. These forms contain the names and SS numbers of all employees on the payroll and the employer identification number of the company. Listed on the form are all the payments made during the last quarter for monies collected for, withholding taxes, SS contributions, Medicare contributions and any other payments the employer is required to withhold and deposit with the Internal Revenue Service. So don’t try to tell me that if I have an employee in Colorado that is using the SS number of a worker in Detroit and paying SS contributions from two separate employers during the same working period their computers would not pick that up. I know, it is easy to say that the person probably has a part time job after his regular one. However, it is a hell of a commute from Detroit, Michigan to Greeley, Colorado.

It is amazing how AOL can tell me to pick another password or screen-name because one of their millions of subscribers already has the one I want. However, the government cannot tell an employer that someone in another city is already paying taxes under that SS number.

The real question is whose accounts were the SS payments being credited to, the worker in Michigan or Colorado? Secondly, if there was an overpayment who received the refund? That answer is simple. If you do not know you overpaid, you never ask for a refund so IRS does not send one. Therefore, the money paid as SS contributions by the illegal worker stays in the fund. The only beneficiaries are the SS fund and the worker who retires and collects their benefits which may now be larger because more was paid in. The problem is, no one is asking to verify the address that belongs to the SS account in question.

So what is the downfall of the ICE raids? An ABC news reporter in Denver is quoted as saying,” Quite honestly, you’re looking at two weeks before Christmas, and there is buying power leaving the economy.” If that reporter really thinks that the reduction in Christmas shopping spending by the 261 employees Detained in Colorado, that are now without a job is going to affect the economy of Colorado there is a bridge in New York City I would like to sell that reporter.

If they were not working there, taking jobs away from Americans there would be 261 Americans spending at the malls.

Judy Griego, director of Weld County Social Services is quoted in the Greeley Tribune as saying, “Our wish would have been they (ICE) should have let us know beforehand. We have kind of collapsed around this situation internally. Frankly, we don’t know how many kids are involved in this now. It’s kind of guesswork.” Why is she blaming ICE for not informing her? Swift & Co. knew months before the raid was coming. They even went to court to try to stop it. Why didn’t Swift & Co. inform social services? I believe they have a much greater obligation and involvement in the community than ICE.

I can hear all the politicians on both sides of the aisle in outrage. These people were doing jobs that Americans will not do we need them. Really! Prior to the Hart/Celler Act of 1965 there was negative emigration not immigration. Actually, from 1921 until 1965 immigration was close to zero. Think about this, our lettuce was picked, our houses were cleaned, our children were cared for and our lawns were mowed. Whom do you think did all that work?

The Hart/Cellar bill, which opened up our borders to a flood of immigration, may be the reason for the problems we see today. During the hearings of the senate immigration subcommittee, Chairman Edward (Ted) Kennedy (D-MA) reassured his colleagues and the nation with the following statement: “This bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission. It will not cause American workers to lose their jobs.”

Here is the punch line to all this. The opening line in the Rocky Mountain News of December 15, 2006 said, “The line of applicants hoping to fill jobs vacated by undocumented workers taken away by immigration agents at the Swift & Co. meat- processing plant earlier this week was out the door on Thursday.” Did you notice the word “Undocumented?” They were documented, some just had other peoples documents. Political Correctness triumphs again.

A full-page ad in Wednesday’s Greely Tribune states that the company is offering a $1,500 signing bonus for new employees. It said all shifts and all experience levels are needed. It looks like it was a Merry Christmas for some people in Greeley.

How fast can some unemployed Americans find a job? Well if you live in Greeley, Colorado or any of the other five cities that were raided it seems it will happen pretty “Swift.”

And, that is my opinion.

How to Reignite Passion and Intimacy in Your Marriage – Part 3

October 30th, 2011 by admin

Welcome to Part 3 of the 5-part series entitled “Reigniting Passion and Intimacy in Your Marriage: From Resignation to Possibility”

Last time, we took a look at some specific ways to identify if you and your spouse are living in a mood of resignation. I trust you had the opportunity to review the list together and begin to notice how these feelings, thoughts, and behaviors show up in your marriage. How did it go? Did you notice the mood of resignation beginning to shift just by intentionally setting out to observe the indicators? Did you experience a shift in your mood, and perhaps the reawakening of some passion and intimacy for each other when you shared your experiences together?

Passion and Intimacy can not exist in the density of a mood of resignation. And in the mood of resignation, the future that you and your partner are living into is predictably unpleasant, as I’m sure you’ve noticed. Eventually, if the mood of resignation continues to be the “atmosphere” of your relationship, it will die. NOT what we want to happen!

So, how do we transform the mood of resignation into a mood of ambition, where new possibilities can be seen and realized, where the passion and intimacy you once shared so joyfully are reignited and stronger than ever, and where a bright and fulfilling future for your marriage can be created?

First, let go of the belief that things can’t change. This may take a little faith at this point, as you may be thinking that you’ve “tried everything, and nothing seems to have worked.” But for now, just set that belief aside. You know you can always come back to it later if you like. But for now, let it rest. Declare the past complete. What was is behind us. What is yet to be is up to us!

Second, step fully into the realization that you and your partner can intentionally CREATE how you relate to each other and the future that you will share together. If you recall, when in the mood of resignation, you often feel powerless and like a victim. You’re frustrated with how things are, believing they will never change – or only get worse. NOW, in this moment, each of you can CHOOSE to be intentional co-creators of a new marriage.

As a stand for each other and your future together, look at each other and declare, “Who I am for you is an active co-creator of our marriage and life together.” It’s important to say it to each other out loud. Yes, it will be uncomfortable – and, oh yes – it will sound weird, but that’s OK. It feels and sounds weird because…who does this kind of thing? Think about, most people are NOT intentionally creating their marriage -or their life for that matter. Most people do not speak powerfully about their marriage and their future, which is one of the reasons they end up in resignation. So, yes, this will feel awkward, but allow that to be OK. Be willing to allow yourself to get uncomfortable for the sake of your future together.

Third, as Active Co-Creators of your marriage and future, challenge yourselves to intentionally reinvent – together – a small portion of your day. For example, you may choose to reinvent your morning routine together. And before you do that, I encourage you to become aware of and discuss your normal morning routine up to this point. How do you typically start the day together? How is that impacting your relationship? Are you each willing to let go of the comfort of this routine for a new possibility that will strengthen your marriage?

Let’s say that up to this point, your morning goes something like this: Husband rolls out of bed at 5:30 a.m.; wife stays in bed for another hour. Husband showers, eats breakfast (alone), and checks e-mail. Wife wakes up, stumbles to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee, and then heads up stairs to take a shower and wake the kids. Meanwhile, husband puts on jacket, and yells up the stairs, “I’m off to work.”… Ho, hum. A familiar routine perhaps. Notice, very little connection or meaningful communication happening here. And this is the routine five days a week! Impact on the marriage?

OK, as Active Co-Creators who are intentionally creating, you are now being challenged to reinvent your morning routine! Yes, I understand that you are COMFORTABLE with your typical morning routine. And sure, you get some benefit from it, or you wouldn’t be doing it. But if you could design your morning together in such a way that your relationship would be nourished and strengthened, and that would create the conditions for your passion and intimacy to be reignited, what would that look like? What would be happening? How would you be relating to each other?

Yes, once again, this is weird. I mean, who does this? But again, you’re not reading this because you want to have a “normal” marriage. You’re here, reading this because you want to create a marriage where passion and intimacy thrives. Right?

Just a couple of things I recommend you include in your new morning routine: (1) lots of eye contact, and (2) meaningful touch. And I’m going to challenge both of you to not settle for some boring, new routine. Instead, create this new routine in such a way that each of you say “WOW!” when done. Make it so awesome, that each of you are looking forward to getting up each morning to spend your intentionally designed routine together! I’m challenging you…don’t wimp out on me!

Sound good? Great! And by the way, if you don’t want to reinvent your morning, work on your evening. What kind of evening routine would you like to create together? (Of course, you could work on both, but I recommend starting small in the beginning.) If you have children, include them in part of your morning or evening, but be sure to have some time built in just for the two of you.

And as you and your partner take these actions, begin to observe what is happening to the mood of resignation. Is it shifting into a mood of ambition, where you can see and feel new possibilities for your relationship? What do you notice happening to your passion and intimacy for each other – are they waking back up?

Have fun with this! And I look forward to continuing our journey together in Part 4!

Conquering The Medicaid Application: Part 3: Assessment And Deadlines

October 30th, 2011 by admin

ULTC 100.2 -The Functional Assessment for Colorado Medicaid Eligibility

In addition to meeting asset and income eligibility criteria, a Medicaid applicant must also be medically eligible, In other words, he or she must be sick enough to require a certain level of care.

This criteria is determined by a functional assessment performed when an application is submitted. The functional assessment form is the ULTC 100.2. The counties contract out this assessment to other agencies for review.

When an application is filed, the county is required to make a referral requesting the assessment. The contractor then has 10 days to complete the functional assessment. For unknown reasons, this referral is not taking place in a timely fashion as it should. In some cases, the referral is not being made for several weeks or more.

The problem is that Medicaid benefits are not being backdated beyond the date of the functional assessment which launches other issues. It is creating a situation where benefits are significantly delayed and an applicant is responsible for the private pay cost of care during this time period which is not right. Although this is in violation of Colorado regulations and State and federal law, the applicants simply do not have the funds to enforce compliance. Therefore, it is recommended that you waste not time and make the referral yourself as soon as an application is filed.

Long Term Care Options performs the functional assessment for Denver, Adams, and Arapahoe Counties. Each county has a separate telephone number as follows:

Denver County – (720) 974-2397
Adams County – (303) 227-2288
Arapahoe County – (720) 974-2379

Jefferson County has its own contractor which is Jefferson County Government Options for Long Term Care. They can be reached at (303) 271-4216. You can call the local county departments for contractor information for Colorado counties outside the Denver metro area.

For applicants residing in a nursing home, the facility routinely handles the assessment. It is recommended that notice be provided to the facility in writing in order to prevent any delay in obtaining this assessment.

The Processing Timetable: Deadlines, The Application Processing Time Table Table and Processing Overview

Once Part 1 of an application for Medicaid is complete and filed, the county will assign a technician to begin reviewing the application. That technician is responsible for obtaining the proper verification and rendering a decision on the application.

Part 2 of the application and supporting documentation should be submitted as soon as possible thereafter. The technicians frequently will request a personal interview to review the application and to request any additional documentation needed.

If an interview is not requested, the technician will usually send a written request for additional documentation. It is standard for the additional documentation to be requested within 10 days. Extensions are routinely granted upon request.

If the documentation is not provided, the county can deny the application based on failure to cooperate; you don’t want that happening, so be as cooperative as you can. Medicaid regulations require the counties to process an application within 45 days. Once a decision is rendered, a written notice must be issued.

How Seattle Becomes a Great Neighborhood to Raise Kids

October 30th, 2011 by admin

With a stunning high key landmark such as the Space Needle, native to grunge but soulful jazz music is wildly celebrated in the evergreen Seattle, there is much more to this breathtakingly scenic city. Branded as the coffee capital of the United States, the multi-cultured and colorful Seattle is a great neighborhood to raise kids. The government is efficient and operates online to ensure that the residents are able to leave comments and feedback. This interactive city system can be a hint on how liberal and considerate the administrative policies are.

The education coordination is a fine exemplary factor on why Seattle is a great neighborhood to raise kids. Public schools in here offer federal as well state programs such as No Child Left Behind, Learning Assistance Program (LAP) and District Improvement Plan. These plans are effective advancements towards the progressive welfare of students all over Seattle. Considering the commitment assigned by the local government to support the educational process, no child here is left in exclusion.

Migrant parents need not fear their children’s association in public schools as there are additional attentive needs will be taken care via the Migrant Education Program(MEP) and Transitional Bilingual Instructional Program (TBIP), provided all over Seattle. These programs are specially wired to cater to the needs of the distinctive multi-ethnicity and cultural backgrounds of students here.

Healthcare amenities are abundantly situated in all corners with specialization in a specific medical line such as Children’s care at Seattle’s Children, Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Centre just to name a couple.

Sidewalks at the common roads are serene and secure. The residents have prided their reasonably low crime statistics as a major reason to the walkable nature of the city. The urban setting is well-known for promoting walking as its main transportation to schools. Apart from that, there are great short festivals organized all year, and plenty of outstanding escape location to interesting locations such as San Juan Islands, Port Townsend and Whidbey Island.

Make Your Body Beautiful Again Through Cosmetic Surgery

October 26th, 2011 by admin

Have you thought about the possibilities of cosmetic surgery but made the mistake of believing it was only for the Hollywood elite? This is misconception couldn’t be further from the truth. As a matter of fact, everyone and anyone can be a candidate for cosmetic surgery. It is a surprisingly affordable lifestyle choice. Getting your body beautiful again has never been such an easy option as it is now.

When it comes down to it, cosmetic surgery is a medical procedure done to improve your appearance. The reason why it is so popular is because it can be applied to any part of your body. Wherever you feel like you would desire a change, cosmetic surgery can make it happen. The most common areas of the body to get work done are face, breasts and waist.

Cosmetic surgery comes in many forms. As with any type of elective surgery, there may be many options available to the individual. These range from the type of procedure, technique used, and the physician who will be performing the surgery. Each procedure carries its own individual benefits and risks. As such, you should carefully review each with a qualified cosmetic surgeon.

Breast augmentation – This medical procedure involves the use of a prosthetic device to increase, decrease, or reshape the size of an individual’s breasts. Through the use of a silicone shell filled with a solution, the Colorado breast augmentation can molded to the patient’s specifications. Either saline or a silicone gel is the typical solutions used to fill the shell.

Liposuction – This increasingly popular cosmetic procedure involves the removal of deposits of fat from the body. You’ll also hear to it referred to as Lipoplasty, which is its more technical term but you’ll also see it referred to as body contouring sometimes. Denver liposuction should not be thought of as an alternative to weight loss. Instead, it should only be done once dieting and exercise have shown no results to reduce these fatty deposits.

The main techniques used are basic Denver liposuction with a fluid injection, tumescent liposuction, use of stitches, super wet liposuction, ultrasound assisted liposuction, power assisted liposuction and external ultrasound assisted liposuction. A local or general anesthetic is often used depending upon the particular procedure and technique being used.

There are many considerations prior to undergoing any cosmetic procedure. Issues include the elasticity of the skin around the area to be treated, and the general health of the individual. Consult with your doctor beforehand to any surgery.

The Basics Of Qualifying For Colorado Medicaid – What You Can And Cannot Keep

October 26th, 2011 by admin

In order to understand the process of Medicaid qualification in Colorado, you first need to know how Medicaid treats your assets.

Basically, Medicaid breaks your assets down into two separate categories. The first are those assets which are “exempt” and the second are those assets which are “non-exempt” or countable.

Exempt assets are those which Medicaid will not take into account (at least for the time being). Generally the following assets are exempt:

The home, up to $500,000 in equity. The home must be the principal place of residence. The nursing home resident may be required to show some “intent to return home,” even if this never actually takes place. Household and personal belongings, such as furniture, appliances, jewelry and clothing. One vehicle of any value. Prepaid funeral plans and burial plots. Cash value of life insurance policies, as long as the face value of all policies added together does not exceed $1,500. If it does exceed $1,500 in total face amount, then the cash value in these policies is countable. Also, term life insurance is exempt. Cash (e.g. a small checking or savings account) not to exceed$2,000.

These are basically the assets which Medicaid will ignore, at least for now. Keep in mind, however, that the estate recovery unit may come back to recoup payments made to a Medicaid recipient after the death of the recipient and the recipient’s spouse. All other assets which are not exempt (i.e. the ones not listed earlier) are countable. This includes checking accounts, savings accounts, certificates of deposit, money market accounts, stocks, mutual funds, bonds, IRAs, pensions, second cars and so on. While there are some minor exceptions to these rules, for the most part, all money and property, as well as any item that can be valued and turned into cash, is a countable asset, unless it is one of those listed earlier as exempt.

While the Medicaid rules themselves are complicated and somewhat tricky, for a single person it’s safe to say that you will qualify for Medicaid so long as you have only exempt assets plus a small amount of cash.

For a married couple, the community spouse (i.e., the one not needing nursing home care) can generally keep $104,400. Of course, this does not mean there are not things which can be done to protect assets beyond these levels. Instead, this information is designed to review the basics in a way which a caseworker from Medicaid would do so.

Alkaline Body Balance Health Resources – Start Here and End Here

October 24th, 2011 by admin

With a balanced inner body, you will have a healthier and leaner outer body. You will give yourself the chance to lose weight and you will gain energy to do your daily tasks without any slow downs.

As mentioned in a previous article, the importance of alkaline body balancing is paramount to fend of most common ailments, disorders and diseases. Arguably the most important of which is Cancer, which has the perfect spreading ground in an body balance with an acidic pH level, commonly known as acidosis.

Check this out: A medical scientist, Otto Warburg, two time winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine commented;
“There is no disease whose prime cause is better known, so that today ignorance is no longer an excuse that one cannot do more about prevention of cancer.” What did he say? Is he saying that the average person should know damn well by now that in an alkaline balanced body there is NO CHANCE of CANCER GROWTH? Wow if it’s that simple, what do we need to do to prevent cancer?

In his discoveries of the early 60′s, he was lead to the fact that the number one mineral nutrient in our bodies, Calcium, and the abundance of it in the blood stream, was a major contributor to the proper alkalinity of the body’s fluids. Calcium’s presence in the blood stream is paramount based on the fact that the Mineral Calcium is needed to properly Oxidize the blood and operate the nutrient channel through which the cells’ nutrients enter and exit. Conversely, it’s lack thereof was evidenced by the low pH balance into the acidic zone, giving way to carcinogens and toxins for entry into a ruptured cell.

Without getting too technical, understand this; we humans require lots of oxygen for numerous biological functions: therefore, alkaline fluids are more conducive to biological functions than acidic fluids which don’t have the ability to absorb gasses, like oxygen. The cell membrane is composed of a bi-layer of phospholipids which could be compared to an air mattress composed of two layers of balloons with the upper and lower layers bound together by string. The phospholipid layers are largely comprised of cholesterol. The surface of the phospholipid balloons contains significant oxygen which makes it hydrophilic, or in other words water and fluids are attracted to it. The surface of each cell is negatively charged and thereby allows the hydrophilic surface to capture either cancer causing chemicals, most of which are made up of derivatives of the electron starved, therefore positively charged, benzene, or (good scenario) positively charged minerals; calcium and magnesium.

The calcium will then attract negatively charged nutrients in preparation for entry into the cell. The nutrient channel, mentioned above, is kept closed by a rosette of coiled proteins, like a coiled snake plugging a hole, bound together by Calcium. When negatively charged nutrients enter the cell, the pH inside the cell drops as the nutrients are consumed in biochemical reactions. This in turn causes an electrical potential difference; an electrical voltage. When the charge becomes large enough, it causes the negatively charged end of the rosette snake coil to stretch towards the positively charged external fluids, thereby opening the cell and allowing the higher pH nutrients to flow through the nutrient channel into the cell. These high pH fluids entering the cell in turn raise the pH inside the cell, thereby lowering the electrical charge, allowing the rosette snake to recoil and plug the channel. Thus the cell has been opened and closed electrically.

Ok, now picture this: An acidic environment results in cell surface disintegration, right? If, on the other hand, the fluids inside the cell are at the more alkaline pH of 6.5 or higher, this will allow the four nucleotides which are the basic building blocks of DNA, to be formed. Thus in an acidic environment the DNA cannot be formed. This is probably the main reason why acidosis results in degenerative diseases, and why raising the body fluid’s pH can result in curing the disease.

Breast Augmentation – Your First Meeting With The Doctor

October 22nd, 2011 by admin

Breast augmentation is a procedure that can come with many benefits and rewards. However it also comes with its share of risks and potential complications. That is why you need to be well informed before you decide to go ahead and have the plastic surgery procedure.

Once you have decided that you want to have implants placed into your chest to improve the appearance of your breasts, you must meet with the doctor. A consultation before having breast augmentation is an absolute must. It is natural to be curious about what to expect when you first sit down and talk with the cosmetic surgeon. There are certain items that will typically be discussed at a first meeting.

The surgeon will want to know what breast size you are interested in having. If you wish to bring anything else related to the look of your chest to the attention of the physician then this is the time to do it. Don’t be shy. The surgeon will want you to be as precise as possible in explaining how you wish your breasts to look. Tell him what you would like to improve. From this he can accurately assess your expectations to determine if they are realistic and in line with what the outcome of the surgery will be.

During the first meeting the surgeon will examine your breasts carefully. He is likely to take some photos of your chest at this time. These photos will be entered into the medical record he will start for you. As soon as you book a consultation a file is opened for you at the plastic surgeon’s office.

It is imperative that the surgeon finds out about your medical background as well as about the current state of your health and your lifestyle habits. It is his job as a surgeon to make sure that it is safe for you to have the breast augmentation procedure. If he does not then he is being negligent in his duties.

When you sit down in the surgeon’s office you should be prepared to disclose and discuss your medical history and anything medically related that could have an impact on your breast implant operation. Any medical conditions you suffered from in the past or that are ongoing make a difference. The same can be said for any surgeries you had in the past. Do not discount the importance of anything. All surgeries should be mentioned, regardless of how big or small they were.

If you have any drug allergies that you aware of then tell the surgeon so he can make note of it in your file. You should also tell him about any medications you are on. This includes prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs and any nutritional supplements.

He will need to know if there is a history of breast cancer in your family. He will also need to know if you have ever had a mammogram and what the results were. Be as honest as possible.

From there the doctor will explain the breast augmentation procedure to you and will discuss the options you have in terms of the types of implants and the location for the incisions. Pay close attention to what the doctor is saying and ask questions where applicable.
